POEM
What then?
by _____
A STATEMENT FROM THE ARTIST
For the poem, I tried to find something that fit the theme, reflecting on my life as a student who is almost an adult. I thought of my life and daily routine, realizing how I do almost the same things everyday. That was the main inspiration. If you feel something similar, I hope you know that you’re not alone.
When does it get hard?
Why does it get harder? Even the little things.
Everyday you go through a routine which mirrors every other day.
Or...maybe you don’t and you have a brand new adventure everyday, but right now, this is a life.
Sure, there might be a few differences, different activities, classes, evening plans.
Yet what motivates you to get out of bed?
Is it the urgency of needing to complete a task before a deadline?
Or is it the worry of failing and disappointing those around you.
Maybe it's all of the above.
What about the little everyday habits?
Brushing teeth, showering, washing our face, brushing our hair.
What happens when that becomes hard?
How do you stay motivated to do those tasks?
And what happens when the fear of not staying healthy and taking care of yourself starts to slip away into
the void.
What then?
